School trip June 2007:
A two week road trip!
Chief Julian Yendo School and Kakisa Lake School embarked on
a two week road trip to Fort Nelson, Prince George, Vancouver,
Victoria, Salt Spring Island, Three Valley Gap, Banff, Drumheller,
Edmonton, High Level and then back to Kakisa and Wrigley. Some
of the adventures that we had were:
- Fort Nelson - swimming in the Fort Nelson Hotel and practising
our fiddling.
- Peace Canyon Dam - dipping our toes in the very cold Dinosaur
Lake reservoir and visiting the Peace Canyon Interpretive Centre.
- Fraser Canyon - being excited by the curvy routed and the
deep canyons.
- Vancouver - visiting Science World, participating in the
Grossology workshop, seeing the omnimax film called Hurricane
on the Bayou, walking through Gastown, seeing the cruise
ships, walking through the Downtown Eastside, shopping.
- BC Ferries - riding the Spirit of British Columbia and visiting
the bridge.
- Victoria - visiting the Royal BC Museum, going to the Titanic
exhibit, seeing the Titanica film, walking in downtown Victoria,
tasting the salty ocean water.
- Salt Spring Island - camping at Ruckle Park, exploring the
tide pools, finding starfish, fiddling at the Fulford Hall Concert,
eating at the feast, participating in the barn dance, meeting
new friends, walking around Ganges.
- Three Valley Gap - swimming in the pool at Three Valley Lake
Chateau, eating the wonderful food, visiting the Ghost Town,
seeing the antique cars, learning about the Roundhouse that is
under construction.
- Banff - taking a horseback trail ride for an hour and a half
and even trotting.
- Drumheller - enjoying the hamburger barbecue provided by
the Travelodge Hotel, visiting the Royal Tyrrell Museum, going
on a virtual hike of the Badlands (virtual due to rain), participating
in the Raptors in Action workshop, seeing the film Dinosaurs
in the Movies.
- Edmonton - swimming at the World Water Park, playing in Galaxyland,
shopping in West Edmonton Mall.
